Burren Spin thanks
Dear Brendan & Nigel (Galway Bay Cycling Club),
Just a big thank you to you lads and your club for a very well organised 90km spin yesterday around the Burren.
I was the guy from Wicklow Tri Club and I really enjoyed the route! I was testing out a new bike and although my swims and runs are stronger than my biking ability it was very worthwhile training.
Everybody was very friendly and I have already emailed our Wicklow Triathlion Club committee informing them that I am interested in organising self catering cottages / B&B's for next year and bringing more WTC members down for the w/e to participate...
Maybe you could put me down on an email newsletter regarding 2010 Clarinbridge spin...
Have a great season lads, and thanks again!
Best regards
Simon Bewley
Clare Spin
The spin passed off without a hitch, thanks to some strangely kind weather and lots of good organization. Every junction was marshalled, and an able support crew kept the bikes running. An awkward icy section made the going 'interesting', though everyone made it safely over the snow-lined slush-covered roads. The winter sun slanting across the bare burren rocks and fields of standing water was a sight for sore eyes for the 50+ cyclists. The last kilometers saw the speed escalate to a customary Sunday gallop, and there was an entertaining finish in Clarinbridge, despite the lack of any actual finish line.
