National Hill Climb Championships
Galway Bay Cycling Club in association with Cycling Ireland is pleased to announce its hosting of the 2017 National Hill Climb Championship on Sunday, October 1st at Castledaly, Co. Galway.
The hill that will witness the battle for the medals is known locally as ‘Scalp’ – SEE HERE – and forms the initial part of the Francis Gap climb near the townland of Castledaly. At an average gradient of 6% and a maximum of 19%, the 1.8KM scalp climb will provide a rigorous test on the day.
THE FOLLOWING CHAMPIONSHIP CATEGORIES WILL BE CONTESTED IN THE DAY:
Senior/Junior Championships (Male & Female)
M40 Championships
M50 Championships
M60 Championships
Castledaly is located between Loughrea and Gort, Co. Galway, and is within easy access of the M6 & M18 motorways. Advance entry is required and can be completed by CLICKING HERE
Sign – on is from 9:30AM – 11:00AM on Sunday October 1st at St. Thomas’s GAA Club, Castledaly where parking, changing and showering facilities are also available. First rider start time is scheduled for 11:45AM, with a 1 minute gap between riders.
